Cerosa's National Animals: Zilla, Langley and Zilli

Picture
On May 20, 1998 AD (CC), New York City, USA, was attacked by a 300 foot tall irradiated iguana. The people of New York thought this creature was Godzilla, King of the Monsters. They were incorrect. This creature, later dubbed "Zilla", was completely different in appearance, as well as having a lower intelligence level than Godzilla, and was much less durable than Godzilla (he was defeated by several missile volleys). Later, a second Zilla attacked Sydney, Australia in 2004 AD (CC), and was quickly dispatched by Godzilla himself. UN scientists took DNA samples from this second Zilla (the original was destroyed through classified means), and cryogenically froze the samples. These samples changed hands and locations many times over the decades, until, in 2079, Cerosan scientists uncovered them.
They immediately set to work, recreating the Zilla specimen to fit the desired specifications of Prime Minister Paul J. Gennett, Sr. By 2080, they had recreated Zilla, and had him fully developed. This Zilla, unlike the first two, is highly intelligent (for a mutation, that is), is virtually invincible, and through a curious anomaly that comes from his unstable DNA, Zilla has the ability to actually absorb focused energy through his skin, and it becomes a part of his DNA.
This was discovered when, after battling Gigan, Zilla gained the ability to shoot laser beams from his mouth. When Cerosa was located on Earth, Zilla was considered the "Protector" of Cerosa; he had to fight off ANY threat to the nation. However, as Cerosa left Earth for good after the FAR-AE War in 2114, Zilla and his family settled down on Alpha VII, and apparently, the other former Earth Defenders followed their leader.

Zilla has grown more intelligent over the decades, as he has been able to communicate with other monsters, as well as telepathically speak with humans and other sentients, and make moral decisions ( such as when he put himself in between Godzilla, Jr. and a laser beam from Destoroyah that was bound to kill the young kaiju ["Strange beast" in Japanese]). Apparently Zilla, like other kaiju, is, in a way, immortal. He cannot die of old age.

Height: 300 feet

Weight: 20,000 tons

Abilities: Laser Breath (after battling Gigan), Behemoth Laser Breath (after battling Destoroyah; replaced the energy of Gigan's beam), Spiral Lightning Cannon (obtained while fighting Neo-Queen Ghidorah; replaced the Behemoth Laser Beam), extreme durability (to the point of near-invincibility), excellent speed, excellent swimmer, excellent burrower, very intelligent.

Becoming King of Monsters

On May 20, 2080, Zilla was sent to Monster Island, to see how he would fare against other kaiju. Zilla quickly adapted to this situation, defeating Kumonga, Gigan, and King Kong single-handed. He then faced King Ghidorah alongside Abraxas, the pet dragon of the Intresian president. Together, they defeated Ghidorah; then Godzilla, the King of the Monsters himself, arrived. He quickly defeated Abraxas, but was equally matched with Zilla. Zilla was forced to leave Monster Island to help the defense of Cerosa in the Longest Day's War. Little did he know, Godzilla followed him.

After the LDW ended, Zilla roamed the countryside, trying to get back to Sarea. Godzilla, who searched for him through the whole conflict, finally found Zilla, and they fought. The two were, again, evenly matched. Godzilla's son, Godzilla, Jr., tried to help, but he was too small to assist his father, and Zilla would not hurt the young creature. As the battle looked like it would end in a stalemate, an old, powerful foe of Godzilla, Destoroyah, entered the fray. He quickly dispatched Zilla and Godzilla both, and as he was about to launch a killing blast on Godzilla, Godzilla, Jr. rammed himself into Destoroyah's back. Unfazed, Destoroyah kicked Godzilla, Jr. with ease, and sent an incredibly strong laser blast his way. Zilla, seeing that the younger monster was in danger, placed himself between the deadly beam and its intended target. With great effort, he used his own mass to force the beam back to Destoroyah, where it exploded, sending both creatures flying. Destroyah, too weak by this point to brace himself, was killed by the blast. Zilla survived with a vicious burn wound. As Godzilla succumbed to his battle wounds, he asked Zilla, who had touched Godzilla with his willingness to sacrifice his own well-being for the sake of Godzilla, Jr., to train his son, and officially passed the title of "King of the Monsters" to Zilla in his final moments.

The Ultimate Foe

Decades after the LDW, Zilla encountered Langley, who would later become his mate. As this happened, Sarea was attacked by King Ghidorah. After a brief fight, Ghidorah was slain, and Sarea was saved. However, unbeknownst to most others, the Unholy Empire of Texcoco salvaged Ghidorah's DNA and used it to create a far superior, female version of Ghidorah: Neo-Queen Ghidorah (NQG). This new foe, with memories of Ghidorah's downfall, challenged Zilla one year after Ghidorah's death. Zilla fought valiantly, but he was easily bested by NQG. When Godzilla, Jr. intervened, he was killed by NQG, and Zilla, enraged at the death of his adopted son, attacked NQG, and was again bested. As NQG prepared to finish off Zilla, he was saved by Mothra, Rodan, and Anguirus. After this, the four kaiju decided to allign themselves, and created a group known as the Earth Defenders.

The Earth Wars

After the initial encounter with NQG, there was a series of kaiju attacks all over the Earth. The Earth Defenders quickly realized that these attacks were orchestrated by the Texcocoans, of which NQG was a servant. At their height, these attacks came from the likes of Gigan (who had been revived and hated Zilla due to his death; the two would often fight during these wars, with Zilla always victorious, though at times just barely), Orga, Battra, Megalon, Gyaos, SpaceGodzilla, and even NQG herself.

At various times, the Earth Defenders consisted of Zilla, Mothra, Rodan, Anguirus, Gamera, Omegaguirus, Langley, and Zilli (Zilla and Langley's daughter).

The Earth Defenders clashed with NQG and her lackeys many times, until eventually, only NQG remained. However, her strength was such that the entire Earth Defender force was needed to defeat her, and even then, only Zilla was able to do so after a lengthy, costly battle. After NQG's defeat, the world was once again at peace. The Earth Defenders, their mission accomplished, disbanded.

However, the new peace was not to last.

Years after the defeat of NQG, Zilla encountered a new being made of stone, called a Colossi. This creature was named Furea. After a brief talk in which Furea claimed Humanity as "monsters", and Zilla confirmed his oath to defend Humanity, the two kaiju clashed. Unlike Zilla's previous encounters, Furea had no energy attacks, and was a brawler. Despite doing some damage to Zilla, Furea was ultimately bested by the King of Monsters. Furea survived, and encountered Zilli. He brutally attacked her, but did not kill her. Afterward, Zilla and Langley both came to help their daughter. Furea, having grown stronger due to his fight with Zilla, was able to take on all three kaiju at once, for a short time. He was quickly beaten again.

And then, just when Zilla thought he was able to rest in peace, an old enemy reappeared: Neo-Queen Ghidorah had survived the final battle with the Earth Defenders, and had spent the intervening years fighting weaker monsters to grow stronger. However, her defeat at the hands of Zilla and the Earth Defenders had disturbed her somewhat, making her volatile, confused, and unstable. Zilla sensed this, and attempted to try and console her, explaining that grudges were meaningless and that it was best to let go of the past, as he had done by forgiving her for the death of Godzilla, Jr. NQG seemed conflicted, but soon lashed out at Zilla, and they clashed for the first time in years. Both kaiju had grown much stronger, but NQG was still too much for Zilla, and he faked death to get her to leave. After a half-hour laying still and recovering, Zilla was found by Zilli and Mothra. This signaled a possible reunification of the Earth Defenders, at least until they relocated to the Cerosan capital world of Alpha VII, and then later were transported to the FB-1 Universe.

Langley the Megalania

Picture
In late August of 2106, an odd creature was found in Northern Spain. This creature, a Megalania (an ancestor of the Komodo Dragon formerly thought to have lived in Australia during the Pleistocene epoch), was named "Langley" and was subjected to tests by Cerosan scientists. When they hit her with nuclear radiation out of boredom, Langley grew to an immense size, being as tall as Zilla on her hind legs. Unlike Zilla, however, Langley possesses no special powers apart from a poisonous bite.

Height: 300 feet on her hind legs (based on Zilla)

Weight: 20,000 tons (based on Zilla)

Zilli

Picture
The hybrid offspring of Zilla and Langley. Zilli looks similar to her father, but has a wilder appearance. She has inherited most of Zilla's traits, while also having the poison bite of Langley. Zilli seems to have grown very quickly, having reached 150 feet in height in less than a year.
